 The Literacy Center of West Michigan welcomes our newest board member, Monica Mendez from the Grand Rapids Chamber!

Monica spent the first 15 years of her career as a bicultural, bilingual business professional managing world-renowned brands. While finding success in the corporate world, she felt drawn to causes with community impact. Now, as the Director of Talent and Leadership Programs at the Grand Rapids Chamber, Monica is an ally in building this community. She serves as a leader in strategy, development, and facilitation of ATHENA Grand Rapids, Latina Connect, OutPro, and all other leadership programs.

Her role is to be a community connector that creates systems impact through collaboration and relationship building. She believes in the power of transformation and is inspired by the collective power of community. These values drive every aspect of her life and work. Armed with knowledge, experience, and a piensa positivamente attitude, Monica seeks to build a better community—together.
