Spellebration 2025

The Literacy Center of West Michigan will host our 32nd annual Spellebration fundraising dinner on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Amway Grand Plaza Ambassador Ballroom (187 Monroe Ave NW) in Grand Rapids from 5:30-9:00pm. Please consider joining us for a lively, mission-forward event with our featured learners, literacy coaches, and honorees.

We’re pleased to be honoring three awardees this year who are truly leading our community’s efforts to advance literacy:  

  • Ruth Johnson Colvin, founder of ProLiteracy, a worldwide movement, and visionary advocate for adult literacy, posthumously with the Champion of Literacy Award
  • Omar Cuevas, Senior Vice President of Investor & Corporate Relations at the Grand Rapids Chamber, with the Ledy Award for Community Engagement
  • Andy Howland, public school bus driver and current literacy coach, with the Volunteer of the Year Award
