Meet Sylvie and Francois, two learners who will be highlighted during Spellebration on Wednesday April 15th.

Francois and Sylvie came to the United States from Rwanda in 2018 with their three children. Both had worked in healthcare and were determined to continue serving others in their new community. They have attended more than 1,000 hours of instruction at the Literacy Center to strengthen their English and pursue Certified Nursing Assistant training. Sylvie became a CNA two years ago, and Francois persisted through Healthcare Careers Bridge ESL classes, completing his CNA training and licensing in December 2025. They also became naturalized U.S. citizens through our citizenship classes!
