Meet Sudha, one of the many learners being celebrated at Spellebration on Wednesday April 15th.

Sudha learned about the Literacy Center from one of her co-workers at Sam’s Club. While she had studied English in her home country, Sri Lanka, she was eager to gain f luency and learn the American accent which she says, “is very beautiful.” Like so many immigrants, she left home in the hopes that her children might have a better future, but navigating the banking, transportation, employment, and school systems was difficult and overwhelming because of the language barrier. English classes are changing that. In class she has not only significantly improved her American English, but she has gained a community of mutual support.
