Literacy Center Advocates for Adult Education at National Skills Coalition

Board member Bill Guest, Executive Director Dr. Wendy Falb, and Senior Director of Programs Marcus Little joined the Michigan delegation at the National Skills Coalition Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. in February 2026.

During the conference, they met with federal legislators and staff to advocate for strong investment in adult education as a critical component of workforce development, skills training, and economic opportunity. Their message was clear: adult education is workforce development. When adults strengthen their literacy and English language skills, they are better prepared to earn credentials, secure employment, and contribute to their communities.

As part of the Michigan delegation, Literacy Center leaders highlighted the impact of integrated education and training programs and the importance of sustained federal funding to ensure more adults can access these pathways.

By participating in national policy conversations, the Literacy Center continues to elevate the voices of adult learners in West Michigan and advocate for systems that expand opportunity.
