The 2020 Community Literacy Summit will focus on the development of language and literacy skills in young children birth to age five, specifically those that lead to kindergarten readiness and grade level reading success. The Summit is designed to bring about discussion and action around literacy readiness skills for young children in West Michigan.
The Summit will draw approximately 200 regional attendees. The target audience includes policy makers, educators, administrators, parents, and community leaders, as well as representatives from local companies, social service organizations, nonprofits and faith-based institutions.
The Summit will include a keynote speaker, two morning breakout sessions (see our sessions here!), facilitated networking, and a closing panel discussion during lunch.
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Keisha Siriboe as this year's keynote speaker. Dr. Siriboe is the inaugural Director of the ROX Institute in Columbus, OH. Previously, she served as the Director of Content and Programming for Reading is Fundamental (RIF).
SCECHs and MiRegistry PD credits (5 hours) will be available at the Summit at no charge. Details will be available at registration on the day of the event.
This year's Summit is underwritten by Lake Michigan Credit Union with support from PNC Bank and WGVU Public Media.
